Airbus is set for significant growth in India. The company plans to increase its direct workforce to over 5,000 employees and aims to double its sourcing of services and components from the country to $2 billion within the next two years.
Airbus India has described this as a dynamic phase in its partnership with India. This decision coincides with the inauguration of Airbus’ new headquarters and training center in New Delhi.
Currently, Airbus employs about 3,500 people in India and sources components worth €1 billion annually. It plans to expand this sourcing volume to $2 billion. In addition to workforce growth, Airbus is collaborating with Air India to launch a second pilot training center and is investing in a new campus in Bengaluru with a capacity for 5,000 individuals.
Furthermore, Airbus is set to manufacture military aircraft and helicopters in partnership with the Tata Group. The company is also actively working with Indian research organizations to support the development of India’s first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). According to Airbus, the “Make-in-India” initiative remains central to its strategy, with the military aircraft program representing the first fully privately manufactured aircraft in India. The company has expressed its commitment to advancing India’s military modernization through potential local production of medium transport aircraft.
As a global leader in aerospace, Airbus continues to innovate in both commercial and military aviation. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, it is known for popular aircraft such as the Airbus A320 family and the A350.
