Central Government Promotes ‘Y-Break’ Yoga at Office Chair

The central government has instructed employees to incorporate a short and innovative yoga practice called “Y-Break – Yoga at Office Chair” to relax, rejuvenate, and enhance concentration. According to a report, the personnel ministry has directed all central government ministries and departments to promote this unique yoga practice in the workplace.

The initiative, introduced by the Ministry of AYUSH, aims to help employees de-stress, refresh, and refocus during their busy work schedules. The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, under the Ministry of AYUSH, has developed a new feature for officials who may find it challenging to take time away from their desks to practice yoga. They can now benefit from the “Y-Break@workplace yoga” by incorporating it into their office chair routines.

The order, dated June 12, encourages all ministries and departments of the Indian government to disseminate information about the “Y-Break@workplace – yoga at chair” among their employees, including those in attached and subordinate positions.

The Yoga Break (Y-Break) protocol, introduced by the AYUSH ministry, offers professionals a way to alleviate stress, renew energy levels, and improve focus. It includes a series of simple yoga practices such as postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana). Experts have carefully developed the protocol and have undergone testing to ensure its effectiveness.

To promote the initiative, the AYUSH ministry’s website features four videos demonstrating “Yoga at Chair,” “Yoga for Workaholics 1,” “Yoga for Workaholics 2,” and “Yoga Break.”

Overall, the government’s initiative aims to spread awareness about the benefits of incorporating yoga into the workplace, providing employees with an accessible and convenient way to enhance their well-being and productivity.
