OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, is looking for coders, critical thinkers, and people who know about machine learning (ML), among other things, to fill various research-oriented positions. It is looking to fill positions such as research engineers, research scientists, and research managers. Those chosen may earn a minimum of Rs 2 crore and a maximum of Rs 3.7 crore per year.
Jan Leike, OpenAI’s head of superalignment, revealed this in a recent podcast.
However, mere coding and machine learning knowledge will not suffice. Candidates must be genuinely committed to the advancement of safe artificial intelligence (AI). The chosen candidates may be tasked with the design and execution of complex experiments related to safety research. OpenAI research engineers will be in charge of coding for ML training, as well as managing experimental datasets and troubleshooting.
Prior knowledge of AI safety or a PhD in ML are not required. Candidates with the ability to create ML models will be chosen.
Those who are eager to learn, can think critically, are curious to learn more, and have questions about technology should apply for positions as research engineers and scientists. Research managers will direct these research engineers and scientists. A suitable candidate for the role of research manager should have team management experience as well as knowledge of machine learning.
