Russia to raise the minimum wage by 18.5% next year

According to a bill posted for public comment on Monday at the portal of draught Russian regulations, Russia plans to increase the minimum wage by 18.5% in 2019.

The monthly minimum wage in Russia is 16,242 rubles or about 182 dollars. The wage of 4.8 million Russians will be impacted by a bill that the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Russia has created that will raise it to 19,242 rubles (215 dollars) as of January 1, 2024.

Additionally, the ministry suggests that starting in 2025, the minimum wage calculation method be modified. Currently, the minimum wage in Russia is set at 42% of the median annual wage. The ratio should be no less than 48%, according to the proposal.
