An engineering student at NIT Jalandhar recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Tech Mahindra’s campus placement offer. This tweet shed light on the offer’s terms and conditions, which have raised eyebrows among students.
The Tech Mahindra placement offer includes two key conditions. First and foremost, candidates must be willing to work in shifts that span all hours of the day, seven days a week. This entails committing to a 24-hour work schedule, which can be demanding. Second, individuals who are hired by Tech Mahindra must sign a bond stating that if they leave the company before completing two years of service, they must pay a Rs 1 lakh penalty.
The tweet also stated that Tech Mahindra is actively recruiting recent graduates for positions in the company’s various offices. Additionally, the tweet stated that selected candidates would serve a standard three-month probationary period, which is standard industry practise. If they successfully complete this probationary period, they will be required to sign an indemnity bond and commit to a mandatory two-year service period beginning on the date they join.
This contradicts the widely held belief that software engineers command high wages. According to the tweet, candidates chosen through the regular hiring process were offered an annual salary of only Rs 3.25 lakh. Those who successfully navigated the ‘supercoder’ selection process during placements received a slightly higher salary of Rs 5.5 lakh!
