Google was recently at the centre of attraction as it sacked 12k employees from the firm. This led to a lot of protests on social media and many employees raised their voices as well. Moreover, many affected employees have urged Google’s CEO to step down.
Recently, in a town hall meeting Pichai announced that all roles above the senior executive level will witness a reduction in their annual bonus. He claimed that the pay for senior positions is dependent upon the success of the company.
Although he remained silent regarding who would be impacted, he as a top executive will likely see his reduction in pay. Pichai, however, declined to specify the amount and duration of the compensation reduction.
Google approved a fresh equity award for Pichai in December of last year. The tech firm claimed that Pichai’s “strong performance” as CEO had been acknowledged by the board.
Pichai made $2 million every year, according to a file from the year 2020. The Google CEO’s net worth decreased by 20% to Rs 5,300 crore, according to the IIFL Hurun India Rich List 2022.
