Thales, a French technology company, has opened a new office in Bengaluru to expand its presence in India. This office will be an extension of the company’s Engineering Competence Centre (ECC).

The ECC will focus on improving software and hardware capabilities in both the civil and defence sectors. Since its inception in 2019, the Centre has played a critical role in creating job opportunities and fostering skill development. It currently employs over 500 people.

The new Bengaluru facility represents a modern and sustainable approach to workplace design, with elements of traditional Indian architecture and script incorporated. The office incorporates features that cater to individuals with disabilities and integrates energy-efficient systems, aligning with Thales’ global commitments to environmental and social responsibility.

Thales India’s VP and country director, Ashish Saraf, stated that as the engineering setup in Bengaluru and Noida expands, they are actively building in-country capabilities by combining global expertise with local talent. This strategy aims to create new opportunities and innovations for both domestic and international customers.

Thales has a strong presence in India, having been present since 1953. The company employs over 2,000 people, including those involved in joint ventures, with its main office in Noida and additional branches in key cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

The company has played critical roles in a variety of industries, including defence, transportation, aerospace, and digital identity and security. The engineering centres in Noida and Bengaluru are critical to the company’s operations, focusing on various technological advancements in digital identity and security, as well as hardware, software, and systems engineering for civil and defence applications.

Furthermore, the company has a global workforce of over 77,000 people spread across 68 countries. In 2022, the company’s sales will total €17.6 billion.
