20 more Google employees were let go for violating office policies

Google has fired 20 more employees for violating office policies, following the termination of 28 employees last week. The earlier terminations were due to protests against Google working with the Israeli government on a project, which caused significant disruption at the company’s offices in New York and California.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, reminded employees that although the company promotes an open work culture where employees can voice their opinions, they must be mindful of the limitations and avoid overstepping. Productivity should be the focus, not protests or demonstrations.

Google has faced employee protests in the past over deals with governments, but Project Nimbus has caused the most significant backlash. The deal with the Israeli government and Amazon and Google offers cloud services solutions to the country’s military, including storage and computational resources for training artificial intelligence. Some employees believe this technology could violate the human rights of Palestinians and lead to systematic discrimination.
