Amazon India has announced plans to create over 1.5 lakh seasonal jobs across more than 400 cities and towns, gearing up for the upcoming festive season. The roles span the company’s extensive fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network, ensuring faster deliveries during peak shopping periods.
The hiring drive covers both metros—such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune—and smaller cities including Ranchi, Jalandhar, Coimbatore, and Anantnag. Notably, thousands of women and more than 2,000 persons with disabilities have already joined the seasonal workforce.
While many of these positions are temporary, Amazon says a significant number of recruits continue beyond the festive period, with some returning every year.
To support its growing associate base, Amazon has expanded Ashray rest centres to 100 locations, providing safe spaces for delivery partners. Over 80,000 associates will also benefit from free health check-ups, including dental, eye, and physician consultations. Facilities such as clean washrooms, safe drinking water, air-conditioned cafeterias, onsite medical units, and additional insurance coverage are available at larger sites.
Financial well-being initiatives include the Early Access to Pay programme, enabling workers to withdraw part of their earned wages in advance, and ‘Samriddhi’ camps that spread financial awareness. Associates work five days a week and are covered under social security benefits like PF, ESIC, and gratuity.
Abhinav Singh, VP – Operations, India & Australia, Amazon, said:
“This festive season, we continue to be focused on providing fast and reliable deliveries to customers in every serviceable pin code across India. For this, we’ve strengthened our fulfillment and logistics network with over 1.5 lakh additional people. Many of them stay on with us beyond the festive season, returning to work with Amazon year after year.”
Amazon currently works with over 1.6 million sellers in India and operates fulfilment centres across 15 states, sortation hubs in 19 states, and nearly 2,000 delivery stations. With its expanded seasonal workforce, the e-commerce major is preparing to meet surging festive demand nationwide.
