San Francisco: Daksh Gupta, CEO of Greptile, a US-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup, is making headlines with an unconventional recruitment strategy. The company is offering freshers a chance to earn up to Rs 1.5 crore annually, provided they commit to a 12-hour in-office workday and do not request remote work.
Greptile’s compensation package is substantial: freshers can earn a basic salary ranging from Rs 1.23 crore to Rs 1.59 crore, along with equity valued between Rs 1.15 crore and Rs 1.59 crore. Experienced professionals with over seven years in the industry are offered a base pay of Rs 2.12 crore to Rs 2.38 crore.
The attention on these job postings surged after Gupta’s recent interview with The San Francisco Standard, where he discussed the Burning Man cultural movement and outlined his adoption of the so-called ‘9-9-6’ work schedule—working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.
Strict in-office culture
Remote work is not an option. Gupta expects employees to work from the office, six days a week, adhering to the demanding 12-hour schedule. The CEO has been candid about his preference for employees who prioritize the company’s growth over work-life balance, stating that those seeking a relaxed schedule have no place in his startup.
In addition to the high salary, Greptile offers healthcare coverage, 401(k) contributions, complimentary meals, and transportation facilities.
Gupta’s approach has sparked mixed reactions, drawing both praise and criticism for its emphasis on extreme work dedication.
