Amazon India has rolled out road-safety awareness and training workshops across multiple cities for its delivery associates, partners and truck drivers, covering more than 80,000 personnel across its operations network.
The month-long programme is aimed at promoting safer driving practices and responsible road behaviour across Amazon’s last-mile and mid-mile logistics operations nationwide.
As part of the initiative, participants will undergo mandatory on-ground training that includes interactive sessions on helmet and seat belt compliance, safe riding and driving practices, speed management, distraction prevention and emergency preparedness. Practical drills focusing on lane discipline, traffic signage awareness, maintaining safe vehicle distance, hydration breaks and the practice of keeping mobile phones away before starting a vehicle are also included.
The programme also features action-based measures such as ‘No Helmet, No Ride’ drives, helmet inspections, pre-ride safety checks, peer-led demonstrations of best practices, and the distribution of ISI-marked helmets to delivery associates.
Amazon said these workshops complement its existing safety measures, which include pre-departure vehicle inspections, monitoring of helmet usage, real-time speeding alerts, doorstep safety prompts, and access to third-party ambulance services during emergencies.
Salim Memon, Director of Operations, Amazon India, said road safety remains a core focus of the company’s logistics operations. “Through regular, hands-on training and real-world learning, we aim to equip our delivery associates and line haul drivers to navigate everyday road conditions safely, while reinforcing responsible behaviour and the correct use of safety gear,” he said.
Amazon stated that the initiative is part of its broader efforts to embed a safety-first culture across operations and contribute to safer road practices in the communities where it operates.
