A seven-month special registration drive conducted by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has expanded social security coverage by bringing more than 1.12 crore workers and 1.38 lakh employers into the scheme, according to data released by the Ministry of Labour & Employment. IndiGo has postponed salary increments for its senior management following a loss in the first quarter of FY27, as the airline continues to face profitability pressures from rising fuel prices and an uncertain business environment. HDFC Bank reported a net reduction in its workforce during the financial year ended 31 March 2026, while increasing the number of employees in management roles and expanding investments in artificial intelligence (AI) training, according to its FY26 Integrated Annual Report. The bank’s total employee strength stood at 211,178 as of 31 March 2026, compared with 214,521 a year earlier, representing a net reduction of 3,343 employees. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) added 9,279 employees on a net basis during the first quarter of FY27, marking its strongest quarterly hiring in nearly four years despite a challenging demand environment. According to the company’s quarterly fact sheet, TCS’ total workforce stood at 593,798 employees as of 30 June 2026. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced plans to invest approximately ₹2,420 crore to expand its manufacturing capacity in India. The investment will fund new production lines at the company’s plants in Rajasthan and Gujarat and is expected to create around 3,800 new jobs by 2028. The larger of the two expansion projects will be at the company’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Rajasthan.
