Indian IT services company Infosys has postponed recruitment assessments for approximately 20,000 candidates after identifying instances of impersonation during its ongoing hiring process, according to reports.
The assessments were being conducted as part of the company’s campus and off-campus recruitment programmes for entry-level positions. During routine monitoring and verification procedures, Infosys reportedly detected cases in which individuals other than registered applicants were suspected of taking the tests.
The company has temporarily suspended the examinations while it reviews its recruitment procedures and strengthens candidate verification mechanisms. The assessments are expected to be rescheduled after additional safeguards are implemented.
The postponement affects thousands of candidates participating in the current hiring cycle. Infosys has not announced revised examination dates and has advised applicants to follow official recruitment channels for further updates.
The company said maintaining the integrity and fairness of its recruitment process remains a priority. It also indicated that appropriate action would be taken in cases where violations of recruitment policies are confirmed.
The incident highlights broader challenges associated with online recruitment and remote assessments, which have become increasingly common across the technology sector. Companies conducting virtual hiring processes continue to invest in identity verification and proctoring measures to address concerns related to examination security and candidate authentication.
Infosys has stated that it remains committed to recruiting early-career talent while ensuring that hiring processes are conducted in a transparent and equitable manner.
