Amazon India has earmarked a significant investment of at least ₹2,000 crore (approximately $233 million) for 2025 to expand and modernize its operations infrastructure, enhance employee well-being, and improve the safety of its delivery associates. The e-commerce leader is focused on building the safest, fastest, and most reliable operations network in the country.
As part of its commitment, Amazon is adopting cutting-edge technology to bolster on-road safety. New tools are being implemented to alert delivery partners about unsafe driving speeds and encourage timely rest breaks. Route planning is also being refined to ensure fair distribution and adequate time for deliveries, reducing fatigue and stress.
The company is enhancing its driver onboarding process and upgrading the Driver app to offer better transparency around earnings and benefits. A new “Helmet Adherence Application” will help ensure delivery associates wear helmets properly before trips begin, sending real-time alerts if safety standards are not met. Additionally, Amazon is simplifying delivery workflows with self-guided app features, improved navigation for unstructured addresses, and image/video-based item verification to reduce mental load.
Several associate and employee well-being programmes are already active:
-
Ashray: Offers dedicated rest points with seating, water, charging stations, and washrooms—even for non-Amazon delivery personnel.
-
Samridhi: A financial well-being initiative that provides financial education and personal finance support.
-
Pratidhi: Supports the children of associates through scholarship opportunities.
-
Sushruta: Addresses healthcare needs of truck drivers.
-
The company also provides on-site first aid, insurance coverage, and has recently introduced a free health check-up programme, expected to benefit over 80,000 delivery associates by the end of 2025.
Accessibility and inclusivity are also key priorities. Amazon’s fulfilment centres are designed to be safe and accommodating for people with disabilities. The company continually improves cooling systems, resting areas, and safety protocols to support a comfortable and inclusive working environment.
The investment will also go toward developing new technology tools and expanding Amazon’s fulfilment network. With an infrastructure already capable of delivering to all serviceable pin codes in India, Amazon now plans to launch new sites and upgrade existing ones across its fulfilment, sortation, and delivery facilities. The upgrades will help increase processing capacity, improve delivery speed, and boost overall operational efficiency.
“By strengthening our infrastructure capabilities, enhancing processing capacity, and implementing state-of-the-art technology, we’re positioning Amazon to better serve customers throughout India while supporting our employees, associates, and partners—who are the heart of it all,” said Abhinav Singh, Vice President – Operations, Amazon India & Australia.
