Infosys has expanded its office attendance requirements, asking more employees to spend four days a week at company offices. The updated guidance now applies to employees at job level 6A and above, extending a rule that previously covered mostly senior managers and directors at level 7 and higher.
According to internal HR communications, employees at JL6+ are expected to work from the office at least four days each week. The move follows internal reviews that showed some staff were not meeting the earlier minimum requirement of 10 days of office attendance per month.
The company also indicated that HR managers will review monthly return-to-office data, while emphasising that managers should set an example by adhering to the hybrid work policy.
Infosys has continued to maintain a hybrid work model, stating that a combination of office and remote work can support collaboration, innovation and employee development.
Within the company’s internal structure, job levels are divided into two bands — A and B — with promotions typically moving employees from band A to the next level. While employees earlier had flexibility in choosing any 10 days in a month to work from the office, the recent HR communication clarified that office attendance should now be distributed across all four weeks rather than concentrated in a shorter period.
The move reflects a broader effort by the Bengaluru–based company to increase workplace presence as organisations reassess remote work practices introduced during the pandemic.
Infosys has not publicly commented on the internal communication, but the change indicates that the company is gradually extending stricter office attendance expectations to a wider group of employees.
Earlier this year, Infosys introduced a revised work framework that placed greater emphasis on office attendance while continuing to allow limited flexibility. Under that structure, most employees were required to work from the office for at least 10 days each month.
The policy also set limits on remote work. Employees were allowed up to five days of work-from-home in a quarter, with any additional remote work requiring approval from a reporting manager and typically reserved for exceptional circumstances.
The changes come as several companies across India’s IT services sector adjust workplace policies following the pandemic-driven shift to remote work.
