Infosys has rolled out a new incentive program aimed at rewarding senior employees for their involvement in lateral hiring interviews. Launched effective 1 January, the initiative recognizes the contributions of staff in the recruitment process and aims to uplift internal morale amid cautious hiring trends in the IT sector.
Under this scheme, eligible employees will receive a cash reward of ₹700 for every interview they conduct. Notably, the program is retrospective, allowing participants to claim incentives for interviews conducted over the past five months. This marks the first time Infosys has introduced a financial reward system for interviewers.
The incentive is targeted at employees in job levels 5 and 6 — such as track leads, project managers, and architects — who typically participate in the two to three rounds of technical interviews prior to the final HR assessment. However, the scheme excludes HR and talent acquisition personnel, senior leaders, and contractors. Interviews that are cancelled or missed by candidates are also not eligible.
Focused solely on roles based in India, the initiative reflects Infosys’s current preference for lateral hiring over campus recruitment. With the IT industry facing a talent crunch in specialized fields like artificial intelligence, along with subdued global demand, Infosys has been conducting aggressive weekend hiring drives. During these drives, a single employee may conduct up to 15 interviews in a day.
The introduction of this reward system is intended to boost participation, reduce interviewer fatigue, and address employee concerns over limited salary increments and lower performance bonuses.
