Lenovo is ramping up its presence in India, positioning the country as both a high-growth market and a global hub for artificial intelligence. The company plans to expand its AI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, which currently employs 400 professionals, by adding another 1,000 highly skilled experts.
The Bengaluru centre will focus on consulting, security, and enterprise services, while supporting businesses in designing end-to-end digital transformation frameworks.
The move comes after a strong performance in FY25, when Lenovo’s India business recorded 67% year-on-year revenue growth, reaching USD 3.4 billion. Enterprise solutions under Lenovo’s ISG division have been key drivers, fueled by early AI adoption across sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, BFSI, and cooperative banks in smaller cities.
In addition to services, Lenovo is investing heavily in manufacturing. Its Puducherry plant, announced last year, has begun producing AI servers, rack systems, and GPU units, with an annual capacity of around 50,000 servers. The facility is expected to cater to both domestic demand and exports.
Bengaluru is emerging as a strategic global hub for Lenovo, hosting research and development labs, security, and network operations centres. The company is shifting focus from infrastructure to outcome-based consulting, helping enterprises optimize supply chains, enhance fraud detection, and implement AI-driven improvements in manufacturing and pharma.
Globally, Lenovo has committed USD 1 billion over three years to AI development, with India playing a central role. The strategy reflects changing enterprise priorities, emphasizing compliance, governance, and measurable ROI over experimental AI deployments.
