Lufthansa Group is currently looking to expand its team by hiring 13,000 new employees this year. The company is not only hiring for cabin and cockpit crew positions but also for technical and information technology (IT) divisions.
Last year, Lufthansa hired about 13,000 people, and currently, it has a team of over 95,000 members from at least 90 nations. The airline’s goal is to hire more than 3,500 people for cabin roles, 1,000 for the cockpit, and at least 2,000 technicians to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of its aircraft fleet. Additionally, they need about 900 skilled IT professionals due to the rapid rate of digitalisation.
Lufthansa is also hiring ground staff at Frankfurt and Munich airports. Brussels Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance and one of the four Lufthansa Group network airlines, will also be hiring at least 380 new employees. 50% of these will be cabin crew members, and more than 60 maintenance and engineering workers and 50 ground staff will also be hired.
In the third quarter of 2023, the Lufthansa Group posted the second-best quarterly results in its history, with pre-tax earnings of more than €1.5 billion ($1.6 billion). The Group’s airlines served more than 38 million passengers in that quarter. Also, Lufthansa has launched a new airline subsidiary called City Airlines, which has already started hiring.
