The State Bank of India (SBI) has begun onboarding 13,455 newly recruited junior associates across its vast branch network, marking a significant step in bolstering its frontline workforce. These fresh recruits are expected to infuse renewed energy, a strong customer-first approach, and operational efficiency across every touchpoint in the bank’s service ecosystem.
The initiative underscores SBI’s continued focus on strengthening its human resource capabilities through structured skill-development programmes, aligned with evolving technological and functional demands. With a workforce already exceeding 2.36 lakh employees, SBI remains committed to building a more inclusive and future-ready organization.
This onboarding follows SBI’s earlier announcement in May 2025, outlining a major recruitment drive for FY 2026, aimed at hiring approximately 18,000 employees across multiple roles. The upcoming recruitment will target clerical staff (clerks), probationary officers (PO), local-based officers (LBO), and specialist officers (SO) to support the bank’s growing operational needs.
Among the projected vacancies, 13,500 to 14,000 positions have been earmarked for clerical roles—an entry point for graduates aspiring to build careers in the public sector banking space. These junior associates play a pivotal role in branch-level operations, including customer service, transaction processing, and administrative support.
With a nationwide presence of 22,937 branches, 63,791 ATMs/ADWMs, and over 77,000 business correspondent outlets, SBI continues to scale its workforce to serve India’s growing banking and financial inclusion needs effectively.
This large-scale onboarding reflects SBI’s commitment to delivering superior customer experience and sustaining its leadership in the public banking sector.
