As India gears up for its largest shopping extravaganza, The Big Billion Days (TBBD), Flipkart has unveiled its strategy to handle the festive rush. The e-commerce giant is focusing on an expanded workforce, robust supply chain, and technology-driven operations to meet heightened demand.
This year, Flipkart has created over 2.2 lakh seasonal positions across supply chain, logistics, and delivery roles, including pickers, packers, sorters, and last-mile executives. Notably, around 15% of these recruits are entering the workforce for the first time, underlining the company’s push for broader employment opportunities.
Inclusivity has been a key focus. Hiring of women has increased by 10%, while persons with disabilities and members of the LGBTQIA+ community have been integrated into various operational roles. These initiatives reflect Flipkart’s efforts to empower underrepresented groups in the workforce.
To strengthen last-mile delivery, the company is setting up 650 new hubs in cities including Siliguri, Kundli, and Jakhar, along with additional facilities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 locations. These hubs aim to accelerate deliveries during the festive season and expand Flipkart’s reach across new geographies.
Technology will be central to execution. Flipkart is leveraging AI-based demand forecasting, automated sorting, and predictive inventory planning to enhance accuracy and efficiency throughout its supply chain.
The company is also investing in long-term skill development. Its Supply Chain Operations Academy has trained thousands in logistics, with plans to upskill 10,000 more by 2025. Additionally, over 6,000 higher education students have gained practical supply chain exposure through blended learning programs.
With its combination of workforce expansion, inclusivity measures, and tech-backed operational efficiency, Flipkart is gearing up for one of its busiest festive seasons yet.
