The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has upgraded its member portal to bring eight key provident fund services together online, allowing eligible members to complete several transactions without visiting regional offices.
The revamped dashboard consolidates services that were previously available through different sections of the EPFO system. The changes are part of the organisation’s broader move towards a centralised digital service architecture.
Eight PF services available online
Under the upgraded system, members can access services including:
- UAN activation
- Direct UAN Allotment for eligible members
- Updating KYC details
- Checking PF balances through the e-passbook
- Filing e-nomination
- PF Final Settlement through Form 19
- Pension Withdrawal Benefit through Form 10-C
- PF Part Withdrawal through Form 31
The direct UAN allotment facility allows eligible individuals to generate a UAN without waiting for their employer to create one.
Members can submit eligible claims directly
EPFO has said members can submit certain claims directly through the portal without employer intervention, subject to the required conditions.
For this facility, the UAN must be active, Aadhaar must be linked to the UAN and the bank account, including the IFSC, must be verified.
For final PF settlement, PAN seeding is also required. The system checks the member’s date of exit and applies the applicable waiting period after leaving employment covered under the EPF scheme.
Centralised processing under CITES 2.01
The portal upgrade forms part of EPFO’s migration to the CITES 2.01 centralised architecture.
Under the new system, service requests are no longer dependent on a particular regional office. EPFO has also introduced automated validation for KYC-compliant claims up to ₹5 lakh, while certain queries can be addressed through online processes.
Payment processing has also been centralised, with EPFO stating that eligible payments can be routed through the centralised system for same-day credit after authorisation.
The organisation has further said that interest will be calculated up to the date of payment authorisation.
Push towards digital PF services
The portal changes are aimed at making PF-related services more accessible through a single digital interface and reducing dependence on physical paperwork and regional offices.
For members, the key benefit is the ability to initiate and track several common PF-related services online, provided their UAN, Aadhaar, KYC and bank details meet the applicable requirements.
The upgrade is part of EPFO’s wider effort to move towards a more centralised, automated and self-service system for provident fund members.
