The renewed insurance programme provides accidental death cover of ₹10 lakh, hospitalisation benefits, maternity coverage and healthcare support for delivery partners and their families.
Swiggy has renewed its comprehensive insurance programme for delivery partners, reinforcing its commitment to financial security, healthcare access and social protection for workers in India’s gig economy.
The programme covers more than 25 lakh delivery partners and includes benefits such as accidental death insurance, hospitalisation coverage, family health protection and maternity benefits. The initiative is aimed at providing delivery partners and their families with financial assistance during medical emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
Key Insurance Benefits for Swiggy Delivery Partners
Under the renewed insurance programme, delivery partners will continue to receive several financial and healthcare benefits.
The coverage includes:
- Accidental death cover: ₹10 lakh.
- In-patient hospitalisation: Coverage of up to ₹2 lakh.
- Family health coverage: Up to ₹1 lakh.
- Maternity benefits: Available to women delivery partners and eligible spouses of male delivery partners.
- Accidental disability protection: Financial assistance in the event of covered accidental disabilities.
- Child education support: Benefits applicable in cases of accidental death or permanent total disability, subject to policy conditions.
The maternity benefit has also been an important component of the programme. During the previous policy period, approximately 75% of maternity claims were reportedly made by spouses of delivery partners, while women delivery partners accounted for the remaining 25%.
Healthcare Coverage Without Waiting Periods for Pre-existing Diseases
An important feature of the renewed insurance programme is coverage for pre-existing diseases from the first day, without a waiting period, subject to the policy’s terms and conditions.
Delivery partners can access healthcare benefits through cashless treatment at network hospitals and reimbursement facilities at eligible non-network healthcare institutions.
The health coverage also includes day care procedures, emergency road ambulance services of up to ₹10,000, and outpatient department (OPD) treatment coverage of up to ₹10,000 without sub-limits.
Additional benefits include pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses, loss-of-pay support and mobile cover.
24/7 Teleconsultation and Wellness Services
Beyond insurance protection, Swiggy’s programme also provides healthcare access and preventive wellness support.
Delivery partners and their eligible family members can access round-the-clock teleconsultations with general physicians and specialist doctors at no cost.
The programme also includes wellness-related benefits such as:
- Preferential pricing on medicines and diagnostic tests.
- Access to health and wellness sessions.
- AI-enabled wellness management solutions.
- Healthcare consultations and medical guidance.
These services are intended to improve access to healthcare while encouraging preventive health management among delivery partners.
Swiggy Highlights Its Commitment to Gig Worker Welfare
Commenting on the insurance renewal, Saurav Goyal, Chief Operating Officer – Food Marketplace at Swiggy, said the company’s delivery partner insurance programme had evolved into one of the comprehensive protection initiatives in India’s gig economy.
He added that renewing the programme with enhanced benefits would help ensure continued access to financial and healthcare protection for delivery partners when they need it most.
Health Check-up Camps to Expand Across More Cities
Swiggy has also been conducting health check-up camps for delivery partners across multiple cities during the previous financial year.
The company plans to extend these health and wellness initiatives to additional cities during the current financial year, complementing its insurance programme with greater access to preventive healthcare services.
With the renewal of its insurance coverage and expansion of wellness initiatives, Swiggy is continuing to strengthen its social protection framework for delivery partners and their families.
The initiative also highlights the growing importance of healthcare access, accident protection and financial security in India’s expanding gig and platform workforce.
