A former IndiGo ground staff employee has alleged that he resigned following a workplace incident in which he was reportedly asked to apologise to his supervisor by touching her feet.
In a video shared on Instagram, Mohammad Jamshid Y, who identified himself as a former ground staff member at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, said the incident took place during a routine inspection at Terminal 1.
According to Jamshid, a senior official questioned him for reporting to work without wearing a tie, which he said was part of the required uniform. He stated that he acknowledged the oversight, apologised, and assured the official that it would not happen again.
Jamshid further alleged that the official questioned his supervisor for allowing him to enter the terminal without complying with the dress code. He claimed that after apologising to his supervisor, he was instructed to touch her feet as a gesture of apology. He said he declined the request, describing it as inappropriate in a professional workplace.
According to his account, he was then asked to leave the terminal. While accepting responsibility for not wearing the tie, Jamshid said he believed the matter should have been addressed through standard disciplinary procedures.
Jamshid also said that he filed a complaint with IndiGo’s ethics and compliance department. According to him, the airline conducted an internal review but informed him that it was unable to verify his presence at the terminal on the day of the alleged incident based on the available CCTV footage. He said he chose to resign after being dissatisfied with the outcome.
The video has generated discussion on social media, with users raising concerns about workplace dignity and calling for an impartial review of the allegations.
As of publication, IndiGo has not issued a public statement regarding the claims. The allegations made by the former employee have not been independently verified.
