Employment increases by 86% in the real estate and construction sectors

The construction and real estate industry is seeing a significant increase in hiring these days, offering great opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled professionals. According to data from Indeed, there has been a remarkable 86% increase in hiring within this industry from March 2023 to 2024. Furthermore, there has been an increase in job seeker interest, particularly in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai.

Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai are witnessing the highest number of hirings in the construction sector, with 5.05%, 4.68%, and 4.13% respectively. This is due to the business landscape, the rise in warehousing and industrial requirements, and the surge in demand for commercial housing. This can be attributed to increased migration and the establishment of manufacturing units.

Smaller cities like Ernakulam, Kochi, Lucknow, and Calicut seem to be most popular among job seekers. The cost of living is not too high, and there are enough job opportunities available locally so that job seekers can work closer to their homes.

Among tier 2 and 3 cities, Ernakulam, Calicut, and Kochi are witnessing the maximum job postings. The highest number of job postings (17.18%) are for engineers, followed by project leads and supervisors (8%), and architects (5%). Accordingly, job seeker interest lies with engineers (21.31%), project leads and supervisors (9.33%), and architects (4.27%). With construction becoming more complex and technical, the demand for skilled professionals in the industry has also risen.

In conclusion, the real estate industry is experiencing a substantial increase in hiring, providing numerous employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers alike.
