Niva Bupa Health Insurance has launched a new workplace policy, Pink (Period) Leave, aimed at supporting women’s health and well-being. With this initiative, the company becomes one of the few organisations in India to formally recognise menstrual health as an essential aspect of employee care.
Under the policy, all women employees across Niva Bupa’s India operations will be eligible for one day of paid Pink Leave each month. The leave is designed to help manage period-related challenges such as cramps, fatigue, migraines, and nausea. Leave is credited at the start of each month and must be used within the same month, as it cannot be carried forward. Employees can apply through the existing leave management system by selecting the dedicated Pink Leave option.
Commenting on the initiative, Tarun Katyal, Director and Chief Sustainability & HR Officer at Niva Bupa, said, “The introduction of Pink Leave reflects our commitment to supporting women’s health in a meaningful way. This initiative not only promotes wellness but strengthens our culture of care, inclusivity, and respect for individual needs.”
Niva Bupa has long been recognised for its people-first practices and has earned multiple Great Place to Work certifications. The launch of Pink Leave reinforces the company’s focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace that responds to the diverse needs of its employees.
This move marks a significant step in promoting menstrual health awareness and prioritising women’s well-being in Indian workplaces.
