Wipro has implemented a new work-from-office policy for its employees, aligning itself with other Indian IT giants that are enforcing stricter office attendance. The new policy requires employees to be physically present in the office for at least three days per week. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a deduction of a day’s leave. This policy, effective from 2nd September, applies to specific projects within the company.
In 2023, the company introduced a flexible-work policy in response to the increasing COVID-19 cases. This policy aimed to prioritize the well-being of employees, meet client requirements, and support the professional development of the workforce.
According to a report from TOI, Wipro’s management communicated this new policy through an internal email, instructing employees to adhere to the three-day office attendance rule. Any deviation from this policy will result in leave deduction. Additionally, the company’s HR team has been instructed to reject any work-from-home requests and revoke previously approved ones.
However, it has been clarified that this policy does not apply universally and only targets specific projects.
Wipro joins other major IT firms, such as TCS and LTIMindtree, in enforcing similar attendance-linked policies. LTIMindtree recently introduced its “Rhythm” policy, linking employee attendance to leave, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has tied variable pay to office presence, requiring staff to be in the office five days a week. Similarly, Infosys has implemented a three-day office attendance rule for its employees.
